Data is becoming one of the most valuable resources for building a more sustainable, innovative and connected Europe. However, the true potential of data can only be unlocked when organisations are able to share it in a trusted, secure and meaningful way.
To highlight successful approaches and inspire new collaborations, we are launching our Good Practice collection – a curated selection of inspiring examples of data sharing initiatives from different sectors and industries.
The collection presents real-world examples of data spaces and data-sharing ecosystems that demonstrate how cooperation, interoperability and trust can transform the way organisations work together. From mobility and logistics to healthcare, energy, manufacturing and sustainability, these initiatives show how data can support better decisions, new services, and innovative solutions.
Among the featured practices are initiatives such as the European Health Data Space (EHDS), which enables secure access and reuse of health data across Europe; the Mobility Data Space (MDS), which connects mobility stakeholders through sovereign data exchange; and the Green Deal Data Space (GDDS), supporting sustainability and climate-related actions through trusted data collaboration. Other examples, such as EONA-X, Data4NuclearX, and Smart Connected Supplier Network (SCSN), demonstrate how sector-specific data spaces can improve cooperation, efficiency and digital transformation.
Although these initiatives operate in different domains, they share a common vision: data should not be locked away in isolated systems but should become a foundation for collaboration and innovation. Their approaches are based on key principles such as data sovereignty, transparency, interoperability, and secure access.
The Good Practice collection aims to provide inspiration, practical knowledge, and guidance for organisations interested in developing or participating in data-sharing ecosystems. By learning from existing experiences, stakeholders can better understand the opportunities, challenges and impacts of trusted data exchange.
